The Transformation
Long before demolition began, the homeowners had a clear vision for how they wanted the kitchen to look, function, and feel. Every major decision was mapped out in advance, allowing the demo phase to move quickly and purposefully.
The transformation focused on three core elements:
- Spatial Flow: The entire existing kitchen was removed. Two walls came down, including one requiring a new steel beam to support the second floor, creating one expansive gathering space.
- Natural Light: Skylights were introduced to flood the space with light from above, while expanded windows pull light from both sides of the house.
- Premium Materials: Every surface was hand-selected — from the cabinetry and stone countertops to the backsplash and flooring — chosen not just for how they look, but for how they'll age.
The Result
The finished kitchen is a complete transformation, both visually and functionally. Every decision made before demolition is now fully realized, resulting in a space that feels open, cohesive, and intentionally designed for how the homeowners live today.
The new island is the standout feature — larger and more functional than before, it serves as the true gathering place of the kitchen. Countertops throughout were chosen for their bold yet refined character, tying together the cabinetry, flooring, and backsplash into a seamless flow from one zone to the next.
The layout now supports both cooking and connection. Work zones are clearly defined, storage is optimized, and sightlines open the kitchen to the surrounding living and dining areas. Transitions between spaces feel natural, making the kitchen part of the larger home rather than a separate room.
